Most memorable experience at HomeSource east tennessee: Several years ago a video was produced of new homeowners who had come through our program. Gene Patterson did an excellent job in interviewing each of them. He asked them how HomeSource east tennessee had changed their life. Each of them had a poignant moment saying things like “they achieved their dream with HomeSource east tennessee’s help,” or “HomeSource east tennessee went to bat for them and did everything possible to help them.” One gentleman said his whole life had changed. The emotion was on their faces and sometimes accompanied by tears which left a deep impression on me that what we do has such a profound impact on an individual or a family.
Why I do what I do: It is a fascinating and joyous journey to walk alongside an individual or family and help them achieve or sustain their dream of quality housing.

Job responsibilities: To oversee the day to day activities of the financial team and ensure the company’s financial functions are organized and efficient. To maintain appropriate financial controls and produce accurate financial reports as well as budgeting and forecasting.

LaShawn Hall
Position: Director of Property Management
Job responsibilities: Manage 256 multi-family units in Knoxville, Blount County, Maryville and LaFollette, TN. Move-In’s, Move-Out’s, recertifications, inspections and reporting to THDA, KCDC and other funding sources for HomeSource east tennessee.
Most memorable experience at HomeSource east tennessee: Every move-in is memorable for me. From the college students moving into their first home to the seniors moving into their apartment after living with family. Seeing each one gain a sense of accomplishment makes it so memorable.
Why I do what I do: Seeing the smiling faces of each person I move in adds a special place in my heart. Them having a place to call HOME!!! What keeps me motivated is togetherness and respect we have for each other here at HomeSource east tennessee.

Job responsibilities: Managing the HomeOwnership Center, including housing counseling, homebuyer classes, financial capabilities classes, foreclosure prevention and other programs.
What keeps you motivated: Knowing that I made a difference in someone’s life.
Why I do what I do: I love to help people become homeowners in an educated situation so that they can remain homeowners and not have false expectations or get in over their heads.

Position: Assistant Property Manager
Job responsibilities: To assist in leasing properties and coordinating maintenance activities.
Why I do what I do: I enjoy my work every day because every day is different. We provide many services, and I enjoy seeing people satisfied with what we do. With working for multiple people throughout the day it is never predictable, and I believe in what we do.
Memorable experience: Visiting with the tenants at the various property locations and sitting and talking to them about their life experiences and how they enjoy living at our properties. Everyone is great to work with, and it’s like one big family here at HomeSource east tennessee.
What keeps me motivated: I am very driven, and when I believe in something I work at it 100%. I believe what we do here changes peoples’ lives, and I take pride in seeing the outcomes.
Why would I recommend HomeSource east tennessee to friends or family: I did not know that HomeSource east tennessee existed until I came to work here, and after seeing what we do I wished there was a way to publicize what we do and the services we provide. The services are not just for Knoxville residents.

Position: Vice-President Real Estate Development & Facilities Management
Job responsibilities: Effectively manage HomeSource east tennessee’s physical affordable housing assets and develop additional housing opportunities; including, rental and affordable housing for sale.
Most Memorable experience: Trying to park a full-size truck that is 6’6” tall in a 6’ 10” downtown parking garage. Made me a little nervous!
Why I do what I do: I believe that people should meet each other’s needs in a community. I have a background in construction, so I want to use it to help people meet their need for a safe, affordable place to live. I enjoy housing and the building process, and if you are going to work 40 hours a week doing something, it might as well be something you enjoy.
What keeps me motivated: People receiving help, being stable, and helping others.

Why I do what I do: Working with senior adults is a calling for me, something that seems to come easily and something that I am passionate about. I feel blessed to be able to do what I do.
