Several dignitaries were on hand last week for the groundbreaking of a new development that will house seniors and persons with disabilities. Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero was on hand to celebrate the event which highlights a unique partnership between HomeSource, the City of Knoxville, the Bureau of TennCare, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and THDA.
The development will include up to two supportive living homes designed to allow individuals enrolled in TennCare’s Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) programs to live in an integrated community setting, sharing the community room and grounds of the property with 24 apartments for any low income senior households and households with disabilities.
The supportive housing at The Village at Holston will provide accessible housing for the residents and access to the residents from home-health workers, all at an affordable rent. In addition, the residents will have access to a community room, accessible nature trail, and nearby shopping, restaurants and transportation.
